Tech Notes Series:The Powers of WII Remote

I chanced upon this video this week when one of my colleagues sent me the link through IM. Within just two minutes of watching the video, my jaw dropped and the geek in me got excited! I couldn’t contain myself from muttering relentlessly on how ingenious his ideas were.

The person I’m talking about is Johnny Chung Lee. He’s a Ph. D. Graduate Student of Human-Computer Interaction Institute in Carnegie Mellon University. He has a lot of cool ideas that I’m really impressed with. You could check out his website at

For this post, I’ll be featuring his ideas regarding the other applications of the Nintendo Wii remote. You’d be amazed how cool this is and how simple it seems to be. You’d understand what I mean after you watch the videos below. …continue reading Tech Notes Series:The Powers of WII Remote

Charice Pempengco in Oprah!

Whenever I watch Charice Pempengco in YouTube, she never fails to wow me. In fact, even if she sings the same songs in her various TV appearances, I don’t really mind hearing them over and over again. Oh, I’m such a fan. Why not? She’s a Filipina…like me!

I first saw her in the Ellen Degeneres Show wearing an all black outfit and I cannot believe she’s only 15 years old! Then she went on to sing the Philippine National Anthem in the Invasion:Philippines vs. The World at the Araneta Coliseum wherein even the emcee was blown away. And now…well, she will be in Oprah!

Charice is the first ever Filipina to guest in Oprah Winfrey’s show. However, unlike in the Ellen Degeneres show, Charice does not have the limelight all to herself in this particular guesting, which is perfectly ok. She will appear with other gifted children and the Oprah’s teaser makes me super excited to see them all! I believe this will be aired on May 8, 2008…so mark your calendars!

For those who share my enthusiasm and admiration for Charice Pempengco, I think you’ll enjoy watching (again?) her past international performances. I also included the Oprah’s teaser which got me all excited.

Let’s Play Series:Dwarf on a Wharf

Do you need a break? Do you want to throw stuff around to release stress and frustration? Then try playing “Dwarf on a Wharf”! In this game, you get to slingshot dwarves from the wharf and into the ship. Try it! –Michael Sumulong

And He Blogs Too!

I am proud to say that the men in my life are very supportive of my blogging. After my dad, my hubby Mike volunteered (swear, I did not coerce him in any way) to contribute in my blog too! Yey! He will be the lead writer in these two new series:

Tech Notes Series – This series will be about anything and everything techie. Mike is actually 80% robot and 20% human, so this is bound to be interesting for you techie people out there. But I must confess that when he was explaining to me what techie topics he plans to contribute, I hardly understood it. I guess that only means to say I’m 100% human. What a relief!

Let’s Play Series – Ah, now this shows that a nerd gets to have fun too! While my hubby slaves away in front of the computer almost 15 hours a day, he does find time to play online games. He will share his nice finds here. I too am excited to read this series…but I am more excited to know who among us will get a memo for playing during office hours. Hihihi!

So…stay tuned for these two new series by Mike Sumulong. Au revoir!

Save Money Series: Mindless Saving Tips

Don’t you just feel a little bit deprived whenever you realize that it’s scrimp time? I do, and I feel so “api”…huhuhu! But I do realize that saving is an important financial exercise that we all need to subscribe to as early as possible. Not only will it help us become financially secure in our old age, but it can also allow us to retire young. Yey!

And so I decided I’ll cheat myself into saving. Hihihi! Yup, I do cheat myself through five simple mindless saving tips. A note of caution though: I can easily cheat myself, thus simple things like this work for me. I am not so sure if this will work for you, but you can always try. (Wink!)
